NHKテレビなどで繰り返し放映された前輪格納扉付近の耐熱タイルの損傷は、これで見ると意外に小さいようですね。NASAは損傷の9割について「帰還に問題なし」と判断、残りについても今日中には結論を出す。ひとまず安心。

Q: Is a Hubble repair mission still possible?

A: Yes, for now. NASA has teams preparing for a possible mission to send astronauts on the shuttle to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope. NASA Administrator Mike Griffin says repairing Hubble is a high priority for the agency, as long as such a mission can be done safely.

An extended down time for the fleet leaves NASA with less time for shuttle missions. The question might become: What's more important, Hubble or flying a major space station module?
